This past weekend was the Faces of Indonesia Omi DIY Custom contest! Our friends at Plastic Culture have taken some great pictures of these awesome customs. Created for “FACES OF INDONESIA” AN OMI DIY CUSTOM CONTEST”, I’ve titled the piece HANUMANOMI (DOCILE) / HANUMANOMI (ENRAGED). Like a coin, the two Omi’s are presented back to back. The design is inspired by images of HANUMAN, the Hindu Monkey God. Though I have no idea what Hanuman’s roll is as a deity, I love rich visual language of the Hindu religion. It’s very inspiring.
The name itself is simply the mash up of the names, “Hanuman” and “Omi”.
Plastic Culture and Damn! I Love Indonesia presents Faces of Indonesia, OMI:DIY Custom Contest that will be held at Plastic Culture, Level One in East Mall, Grand Indonesia. Win a total prize of Rp. 3.000.000, – and other surprises. The exhibition will kick off on the 27th of May and the winner will be announced on a later date (TBD).
To join, just simply get your OMI:DIY, and register for the contest (only Rp. 10.000 which is about 1 USD) at The Other Culture and Plastic Culture. The best nine OMI designs will be immortalized at Plastic Culture for eternity.
Registration for Faces of Indonesia begins this Saturday, April 30th 2011.
This contest has one category and that is FACES of INDONESIA. Your task is to interpret Indonesia using your favorite OMI. You are more than welcome to submit more than one OMI (if you want to do a series). Be proud and stand tall…Portray Indonesia!
